The Habitat Institute believes that in order to have the ability to make informed decisions in regards to valuing nature we must first look through the eyes and lives of fish & wildlife.

The down wood in this video demonstrates one significant habitat element for multiple species within a Habitat. The Habitat Institute’s CHAP methodology captures this key habitat elements called an Key Environmental Correlates or KEC. These habitat elements (physical and biological) are thought to most influence a species distribution, abundance, fitness, and viability. KEC add value from the field inventory data for each polygon and measure habitat complexity.
